What we collect
Short version: the game sends anonymous gameplay statistics only if you say yes, and this website keeps only what you choose to send on the support page.
In the game
Before the web demo starts, the play page asks whether you want to join the leaderboard. Say yes and you pick a tester name; from then on your runs are sent, and your fastest finished run is shown on the public leaderboard. Say no and nothing is sent: you play the same demo. You can change your answer or your name at any time under the game on the play page. We use the statistics to see where runs end and to balance the demo. Desktop builds send nothing.
What is sent, and when
| When | What |
|---|---|
| A run starts or ends | the run's random id; on the end, how long it took and how many walkers you killed |
| You reach a floor | the floor number and the time into the run |
| You find a key item | which one (backpack, fire axe, revolver, a key) and the floor |
| You use or craft something | the item or recipe and the floor |
| You meet the Tanker | the time into the run |
| You bring down the Tanker | what you carry (items and counts), the floor and the time |
| You die | what caused it, the floor, the time, and your health before the hit |
| You quit | how long the game was open |
Every event also carries a random tester id, made when you join, and random ids for the game launch, the run and this browser, the game's version and your platform (Web). Your tester name and face aren't in the events: this website keeps them next to that id, so you can change them any time. There are no accounts and no email addresses, and the name is the only thing you type.
Where it goes
Into one database table on a trusted, secure backend service (BaaS). The game can only add rows to it, never read them. The table stores no IP addresses; the service's own request logs keep them for a short time, as any web server does. Your tester name and face sit in a second table that only this website's server can read or change.
On the leaderboard
The leaderboard shows each tester's fastest finished run: the face and name, the time, the walkers killed and the bag when the Tanker fell. Anyone can see it. To have your name and runs removed, contact us at the address on the press page.
On this website
No cookies, no analytics and no trackers. When you join, our server stores your tester name and face with your random tester id; the play page also remembers them, and your answer, in your browser's own storage. The leaderboard is put together on our server, so your browser never contacts the database to show it. Before the join, survey and note forms send anything, our hosting provider's bot check runs in the background: it looks at your browser and connection to tell people from bots, and we keep nothing from it.
The web demo keeps its own settings in your browser's storage, on your device.
On the support page
The survey and the note to the developer go to our server, which stores them in a database table only the developer can read: your answers, the name you type (if any), the page's language and the time. No IP address, email or account, and nothing is published. Donations go through the service you pick (PromptPay from your bank, Ko-fi or PayPal), under its own privacy terms; we see only what it shows us, and your name goes on the thanks board only if you ask. To have an answer or a note removed, contact us at the address on the press page.
